my book

Published by Oshun Books in 2007 and now available for Kindle & Nook too, my first book is an autobiography, the story of my life til then, the spilt beans, the dirt dished and so on. It has a habit of knotting up the knickers of a certain type of person, which can be quite fun to watch.

But it’s more than all that. It’s finding the voice to speak about who I am, to challenge the assumptions about who I must be. And sometimes it’s a chance to be heard by someone who needs it most. The right word at the right moment can make a difference. That’s something I know for sure, and it’s a big deal.

By the way, as it was first published in 2007 – obviously a lot has changed for my children and I. We’re older and wiser , or maybe just 5 years more awesome, which is good enough for me.

                                                                                                        The official blurb-thing

“A sharp, occasionally shocking, memoir that will change how you look at young, single mothers, The Girl Who Couldn’t Say No is also an amusing look at dating as a single twenty-something with a teenager and a toddler.

Told with frank humour and refreshingly mature insight, Tracy Engelbrecht tells the story of how she came to find herself pregnant at 15 … and how she coped with pregnancy, birth and homework.”
